Qualification/ Medical Clearance
Clients must be between 18 and 55 years old. If you are over 55, you may still submit an appointment request. Suki will review your skin condition to determine whether you are currently a candidate. Mature skin may require an additional session beyond the standard 5-8 week follow-up session to complete the treatment plan.
You may not qualify if you:
-
Are pregnant or nursing
-
Have a blood-borne infectious condition, including hepatitis or HIV/AIDS
-
Have a known allergy to pigments, makeup or any ingredients used during the procedure
-
Have glaucoma or take blood-thinning medication
-
Currently use Accutane, topical steroids or other medications that affect the skin or healing
-
Have eczema, psoriasis, keloids, active skin cancer, an undiagnosed rash or blisters in the treatment area
-
Have a history of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
-
Have a healing disorder, uncontrolled high blood pressure, iron deficiency or anemia
-
Have a compromised immune system
-
Are currently receiving or scheduled to receive chemotherapy or radiation therapy
-
Have epilepsy or a history of fainting or seizures
-
Have received Botox within the past three months
Clients with diabetes must provide a physician’s clearance confirming that the condition is controlled through medication and/or diet.
Please disclose all medical conditions, medications and allergies honestly on your appointment request form. Additional medical clearance may be required before approval.
Pre Care
Permanent makeup—also known as semi-permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing—is a specialized form of tattooing designed to mimic soft makeup and naturally enhance your features. Because pigment is implanted into the skin, the condition of your skin in the treatment area is closely connected to pigment retention and your final healed results.
Before booking, we strongly recommend reading the pre-care instructions for your specific procedure to ensure you are eligible, properly prepared and able to follow all requirements leading up to your appointment.
Powder Brows Pre Care
For the best healed results, discontinue exfoliating, anti-aging and anti-acne products near the brow area for at least two weeks before and two weeks after your appointment. This includes retinoids, glycolic acid, vitamin C, AHAs, BHAs, enzyme washes and active serums.
-
Avoid alcohol and non-prescribed blood-thinning medications or supplements for 24 hours before your appointment. Never stop prescribed medication without consulting your physician.
-
Schedule treatments such as lasers, chemical peels, waxing, Botox and brow tinting at least two weeks before or after your appointment.
-
Your skin must be healthy and free from irritation, blemishes and sunburn. Your skin type and condition will greatly influence pigment retention and your healed results.
-
Please allow your brow hair to grow before your appointment. I’ll be happy to remove any stray hairs at the studio. Seeing your full natural growth allows me to design a Powder Brow shape that incorporates as much of your own hair as possible, creating a softer and more low-maintenance long-term result.
THE PROCESS
Please reserve approximately 3–4 hours for your brow appointment.
We’ll begin with a personalized brow design called the predraw. You’re welcome to bring reference photos showing how you like to wear your brows. Your shape will be customized according to your facial features, natural hair growth, brow bone and muscle movement.
Brows are sisters, not twins. The goal is to create balance while respecting your natural structure so your brows continue to look flattering as they soften over time.
The predraw is typically the longest part of the appointment and may take 30–60 minutes. Tattooing will begin only after you have reviewed and approved the shape. The brow area will be numbed to keep discomfort minimal.
Your brows may initially appear darker and more filled in. They will gradually soften as they heal, with light flaking or scabbing possible. Some clients experience a temporary ghosting phase, during which the pigment appears very light beneath the newly forming skin. Your true pigment retention becomes visible around weeks four to five.
Permanent makeup is generally a two-session process, with the follow-up scheduled approximately 5–8 weeks after the initial appointment. After completing the process, maintenance refreshers are commonly requested within 12–30 months, depending on your desired intensity, skin type, lifestyle, skincare products, sun exposure and consistent SPF use.
Lip Blush/
Lip Neutralization Pre-Care
Healthy, well-moisturized lips allow the pigment to be implanted more evenly and support better healed results. Please prepare your lips carefully before your appointment.
Lip Filler
Lip Blush must be scheduled at least one month before or after lip filler. No exceptions.
Cold-Sore History
If you have ever experienced a cold sore—even once—you must speak with your physician before your appointment. Lip tattooing can trigger an outbreak, and your physician may recommend prescription antiviral medication before and after the procedure.
Please follow your physician’s instructions exactly. Your appointment cannot proceed if you have an active cold sore, blister, tingling or other signs of an outbreak.
Two to Three Weeks Before
Avoid:
-
Tanning, self-tanner and prolonged sun exposure
-

Waxing, threading or laser hair removal around the treatment area
-
If you begin taking antibiotics or develop an infection, please contact the studio. Never discontinue prescribed medication without consulting your physician.

Prepare Your Lips
During the week before your appointment, gently exfoliate your lips two or three times and apply a moisturizing lip balm consistently.
Please arrive with clean, soft and well-moisturized lips. Severely dry, cracked, injured, sunburned or irritated lips cannot be tattooed and may require the appointment to be rescheduled.
If you tend to experience greater sensitivity during your menstrual cycle, you may prefer to schedule around it, although this is not required.
Lash Line Enhancement
Pre-Care
The eyelid area is delicate, so your eyes and surrounding skin must be healthy and free from irritation on the day of your appointment. Following these instructions will help minimize sensitivity and support the best healed results.

Suki Studio currently does not accept eyes with previous permanent makeup, regardless of how long ago it was performed.
TWO WEEKS BEFORE
-
Remove all lash extensions. They cannot be reapplied until at least two weeks after your follow-up session has healed.
-
Avoid tanning and prolonged sun exposure.

Discontinue retinoids, AHAs, BHAs and other exfoliating products near the eyes.

Avoid facials, chemical peels, waxing and laser treatments near the treatment area.

Caffeine, including coffee, tea and energy drinks
-
Aspirin, ibuprofen and other non-prescribed blood-thinning products

ON THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT
-
Arrive without mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, eye cream, lash glue or false lashes.
-
Remove your contact lenses before the procedure and bring glasses to wear home.
-
Eat a meal or light snack before arriving.
-
Let Suki know if your eyes are particularly sensitive or tend to swell easily.
Your procedure cannot be performed if you have blepharitis, conjunctivitis, a stye, broken skin, visible irritation or another active condition affecting the eyes or eyelids.
Permanent Makeup After-Care
Your aftercare kit and detailed instruction card will be provided at your appointment. Before you leave, Suki will walk you through exactly how to care for your permanent makeup at home.
Permanent makeup is a specialized tattoo, so proper aftercare is essential for healthy healing and the best possible pigment retention.
GENERAL AFTERCARE
During the first 7–10 days, or until flaking is complete:
-
Always wash your hands before touching the treated area.
-
Use only the cleansing products and aftercare balm recommended by Suki.
-
Apply balm in a very thin layer. The area should never look wet or greasy.
-
Do not scratch, rub or pick at flaking skin or scabs. Allow them to shed naturally.
-
Avoid makeup, skincare, exfoliants, acids and anti-aging products directly on or around the treated area.
-
Avoid excessive sweating, strenuous workouts, steam, saunas, swimming, hot tubs and long, steamy showers.
-
Avoid tanning and direct sun exposure for at least 30 days.
-
Keep the area away from dirty surfaces, pets, soil and other possible sources of bacteria.
Once the area has finished flaking, protect it from the sun with daily SPF. Sun exposure, active skincare, skin type and lifestyle can all affect how quickly permanent makeup softens.
Always tell your skincare or medical provider that you have cosmetic tattoos before receiving lasers, chemical peels or other treatments near the area.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Temporary darkening, swelling, redness, tenderness, dryness, itching and light flaking can be part of normal healing. The color may initially appear much darker or brighter than expected before softening.
After the flaking sheds, the pigment may temporarily look very light or uneven. This is the “ghosting phase.” Color gradually becomes more visible as the skin continues healing, with the true retention generally appearing around four to five weeks.
Every client heals and retains pigment differently. Permanent makeup is designed to make your everyday routine easier, but it does not completely replace topical makeup. It is low maintenance—not no maintenance.
POWDER BROWS
Appointment Day
-
Use the wipes from your aftercare kit to gently clean your brows every 30 minutes until the wipes are finished.
-
Before bed, gently blot the brows dry and apply a very thin layer of the provided tattoo balm.
-
Your brows will look darker and more defined the following morning. This is temporary.
Days 1–10
-
Gently blot the brows with the papers provided approximately six times daily, or as instructed by Suki.
-
Each morning, gently clean them with a damp paper towel and apply a very light layer of tattoo balm.
-
Keep the brows away from direct water, sweat, steam, soap, makeup and skincare.
-
Do not pick or remove flaking skin.
-
On Day 10, gently wash the brows using a mild cleanser and clean fingertips.
Your brows may look very light after the flaking comes off. Do not panic—more color should gradually become visible as the skin heals.
Brow-Healing Timeline
-
Days 1–3: Brows appear darker and more filled in.
-
Days 4–10: Light flaking, dryness and patchiness may develop.
-
Days 10–15: Brows may enter the ghosting phase and look much lighter.
-
Weeks 4–5: The healed pigment and overall retention become clearer.
LIP BLUSH
Appointment Day
-
Gently wipe your lips with the water wipes provided every 30 minutes until the wipes are finished.
-
Before bed, apply Aquaphor or the provided tattoo balm using clean hands or a clean cotton swab.
-
The color will look its brightest immediately after the procedure.
-
Temporary swelling or light bruising may occur.
Days 2–7
-
Keep your lips moisturized with Aquaphor or the provided balm approximately five to six times daily.
-
Allow the lips to dry slightly between applications. Do not apply a thick or continuous layer.
-
Use a straw when possible.
-
Avoid very hot drinks, spicy foods, excessive kissing and anything that may create friction or irritation.
-
Do not pick, rub or pull at peeling skin.
-
Avoid lipstick, gloss and other lip products until peeling is complete.
Your lips may feel chapped, tight or uneven while peeling. The color may change several times and appear very light before it settles. Your healed color becomes clearer after approximately four weeks.
Continue using a moisturizing lip balm with SPF after healing to help protect your results.
LASH LINE ENHANCEMENT
Keep the eye area as dry as reasonably possible during healing. Avoid soaking the eyes in the shower, bath or pool.
Appointment Day
-
Gently clean the lash line in the morning and evening using the sterile wipes provided.
-
After cleansing, apply a paper-thin layer of the provided tattoo balm with a clean cotton swab.
-
Before bed, apply another very small amount if instructed by Suki.
Days 1–10
-
Avoid unnecessary touching and direct water on the lash line.
-
Do not pick or pull at flaking skin.
-
Do not apply mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, eye cream or other products near the lash line.
-
After healing, replace old eye makeup or use freshly sanitized products and a clean mascara wand.
-
Do not wear contact lenses for at least 24 hours. Wear glasses if needed.
-
Do not curl, tint, lift or perm the lashes for at least 10–14 days.
-
Do not use lash-growth serum for at least 30 days.
-
Do not reapply lash extensions until the area is completely healed and you have followed Suki’s recommended timeline.
Mild puffiness may occur immediately afterward and during the first couple of days. The lash line will initially look darker and more defined before softening. Light flaking may occur, and the pigment can temporarily appear faint after the flakes shed. The healed color becomes clearer over the following four weeks.
WHEN TO SEEK MEDICAL CARE
Mild initial redness, tenderness or swelling can occur. However, contact a healthcare professional if symptoms worsen instead of improving or if you experience spreading redness, increasing pain or heat, pus, unusual discharge, fever, chills, a rash or difficulty seeing.
Please also notify Suki so your healing can be properly documented.
FOLLOW-UP SESSION
Once your permanent makeup has fully healed, Suki will assess your pigment retention and how your skin responded to the initial procedure. Your follow-up may be used to reinforce lighter areas and refine the color, texture, shape or overall definition.
The same aftercare instructions must be followed after every additional session.
